Hirschsprung Disease
Abstract
Contrast enema is the primary modality for diagnosing Hirschsprung’s disease in the neonate. The most common findings on imaging are a rectosigmoid transitional zone, an abnormal rectosigmoid index, and a saw-tooth pattern depicting impaired peristalsis. The absence of a transitional zone in the neonate may observed due to immature bowel. A suction rectal biopsy is the gold standard to confirm the diagnosis.
